“Fantastic job, just fantastic!”
Those were the words uttered by the Deputy Mayor of a local town council having witnessed at first hand the retrofit work being carried out by Westdale North on houses in his Nottinghamshire constituency.
Eastwood town council Deputy Mayor Ken Woodhead was joined by Mr Milan Radulovic MBE, the leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Broxtowe BC Deputy Mayor, Councillor Robert Bullock and other key local dignitaries as they met with Westdale North directors Joe Rogers and Mark Kelly.
In one of the first projects of its kind in the UK, Westdale North is refurbishing more than 80 houses in and around a conservation area in Eastwood, Broxtowe.
And Westdale’s innovative approach, using unique products such as the Structherm Roofline System and the award-winning ArtBrickTM render finish, is simultaneously enhancing thermal performance of the properties while satisfying conservation requirements.
Eastwood Deputy Mayor Ken Woodhead was certainly impressed: “I had been saying for a long while that it looked like these houses would sadly have to be pulled down so to see them now is remarkable.
“Fantastic job, just fantastic! I don’t live too far away and have seen the transformation taking place. The houses are coming on a treat and they have retained their heritage. The lads doing the work should be commended.
“These houses have been damp and cold, and are now being turned into really warm homes. Energy costs are going down which is good news. Full marks!”
Broxtowe Borough Council leader Milan Radulovic, who also hails from Eastwood, commented: “This is such an important project for the people who live here – and I’m delighted with the great job being done.”
And crucially, one resident said: “Already I’m feeling the difference in heat. My house is much warmer and is retaining the heat so much better.”
