Doing it for the kids!

Making someone’s surroundings more green and pleasant has always been a key element of Westdale North’s ethos – so we were delighted to lend a helping hand to the budding young gardeners at a primary school in Barnsley.

We had got to hear that the green-fingered pupils at Dodworth St John The Baptist C of E Primary Academy were in need of equipment – so we stepped forward with funds to acquire gardening tools, litter pickers, compost, seeds, bulbs, plant pots and an outdoor storage box to keep all the items safe and secure.

Plus we were happy to provide the pickup to transport it all back to the school!

Westdale North director Joe Rogers popped along to St John’s on Wednesday morning to mark the occasion, and meet the children – with the local press also there to cover the event.

Joe said: “We got to hear about the appeal for donations so that the children could carry out gardening and we decided that, as a way of giving back to the local area, we would donate all the equipment and tools needed.

“We’re a firm consisting of mostly Barnsley and South Yorkshire staff and owners, so it it made perfect sense for us to help.

“The school then asked the local press along, which in turn has helped the local community further by spreading the awareness of Westdale’s ECO4 delivery*, which helps residents living in fuel poverty reduce their heating bills.”

Dodworth St John’s Executive Headteacher Simon Kaufman said: “It was a lovely gesture to donate all the equipment for the children. I think it is fantastic that Westdale North are supporting the school in this way, and I can’t thank them enough. The children are going to benefit so much from this.”
